When They’re Right, They’re Right
As you may have heard, the democrat tyrant (yes, Briefs is being redundant) in New Mexico decided to ban guns all on her lonesome. This basically got just about everyone mad at her, including her own AG and the sheriffs. Well, the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire had the absolute best response (strong language warning for those who clutch their pearls at every Trump tweet) https://twitter.com/LPNH/status/1694154833765286191. Technically, that post was before the NM Gov. gave her order. But it’s still perfectly sums it up.
Briefs is FAMOUS!
The other day, Jose Borrajero, wrote an editorial over at the Arizona Daily Independent talking about one of the Letters we published (commenting on HCR 2039). [Link]  Thank you for the shout out Jose. I really appreciate it. I’m sure that not linking to the issue in question was just an oversight, especially since the editorial appeared to assume that everyone who read it would already know about this little corner of the web. Here’s the link to that issue: http://www.republicanbriefs.org/2023/09/14/9-14-23-briefs/. You don’t have to go back and edit it Jose. I’ll put in a comment with the relevant links to the article and your response here in Briefs. I know comments over there generally don’t include links, but I’m sure you can make an exception in this case (you being the executive editor and all). Thanks again for the shout out. OOPS, I see that comments are closed. — JS

Battle for the Working Class
One of the hallmarks of politics for a long time in this country has been the tight bond between the Democrat Party and unions. The first cracks appeared under Reagan and then slowly got bigger during the 1990s and beyond. There are many reasons for this, but today non-government union members are fully in play. Their wages don’t go up automatically with taxes. And nowhere is this more evident in the fact the Trump plans to skip debate and visit UAW members in Detroit
Nation’s Largest Liberal Donor Group Moves Against No Labels
The Arizona Sun Times reports: A powerful network of liberal donors are reportedly planning to oppose No Labels, the newest political party to be recognized in Arizona, as Democrats in the state express concerns the party could serve as a spoiler and cause President Joe Biden to lose the 2024 presidential election.

The influential Democracy Alliance, the nation’s largest club for wealthy liberal donors, told German-owned Politico that Democrats are “increasingly concerned” that a No Labels presidential ticket “could function as a spoiler” for Biden and help former President Donald Trump regain the White House.

CANDIDATE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Anything longer than Briefs 300 word limit is subject to editing/shortening. Briefs does not post candidate endorsements, nor do we participate in any candidate campaigns.

Michelle Ugenti-Rita
I am announcing my candidacy for the office of County Supervisor, District 2, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The voters of District 2 have been deeply disappointed by the actions of appointed Supervisor Thomas Galvin. Whether it is defending botched elections, fiscal mismanagement (including support for the Prop 400 transportation tax increase) or abdicating his responsibility to the residents in Rio Verde Foothills when they desperately needed a solution for their water problem.

For too long, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has lacked transparency, flown under the radar without accountability and been beholden to entrenched bureaucrats and special interests. It is time to call them what they really are, RINOs, and expose the county cartel that has been facilitating and perpetuating a liberal woke agenda. The district deserves better.

“District 2 is a Republican district and the voters want and deserve a Supervisor who reflects those conservative principles. They are tired of being sold out time and time again when politicians like Galvin who claim to be conservative in order to win their vote, then turn around and support, bloated budgets, tax increases and woke gender politics that only succeed in growing government. This stands in stark contrast to my unmatched 12 year record of successfully delivering conservative results to the voters.”

Never have I seen so many elected Republicans in front of TV cameras talking out of both sides of their mouth. Garbed in blue suits, red ties and white shirts they prattle on about the budget talks…’must have spending cuts, but can’t allow the government to shut down!’ Why Not?? When the pendulum swings so far Left, the only thing to do is run as fast as you can to the far Right in hopes of getting things back to center. We have never been further Left than today; so DC House Members, get in a room, agree there will be no budget deal without spending cuts. Take a blood oath if you must, but hang together. Once that is established and communicated to the hoodlums and thieves on the other side, go back into the room and take a pinky pledge to cut spending 10%, across the board, with the exception of the Military and for good measure and to send a “we’re coming for you” message, hit the IRS, Justice and FBI with a 20% cut! If the government shuts down, so be it. If it takes weeks or months, so be it. Just think of all the disastrous governing and regulating that WON’T be conducted over a shut down. Far Right stand strong for this, you only have to actually do this ONCE and the message will never be forgotten. I can just imagine the sound of massive applause rippling across the fruited plains, as Americans give you a standing ovation! Ignore Mitch McConnell’s whining wafting over from the Senate, he is yesterday and hopefully will follow Mitt Romney into retirement.
Joanne Pierce, PC Yavapai County
As a Precinct Committeeman for Yavapai GOP and a State Committeeman for Arizona, I am writing to express my thoughts and request everyone VOTE NO ON HCR2039! Emergency Power Laws by Statute. This is in complete opposition to our Arizona Constitution! What’s even worse, it’s been in practice since January 2, 2023 despite being in direct opposition of our state constitution! When all of us elected positions take office, each makes an oath to support and defend our nation’s constitution and our state constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic. It’s insidious to find our Arizona State Constitution has been tossed aside by our elected officials in practice of Emergency Power Laws by Statute. I urge everyone to VOTE NO ON HCR2039, Emergency Power Laws by Statue. Again VOTE NO HCR 2039!!!! Be well, many blessings!
Randy Miller, LD28 PC
Jose continues his one-sided approach to politics when it comes to assessing legislation. This is a referendum, not a bill. HCR2039 is asking voters to change our constitution to allow the governor to declare a state of emergency. You keep saying “read the bill”. I have, but I also compare it to our constitution, something you did not do. Something else you didn’t do is read these ARS sections. These are laws effective now, you didn’t bring this up, and they violate your rights now.

ARS 26-302; 26-303; 26-307; 26-311; 26-314, (grants immunity to government, employees, contractors etc.); 26-316; 26-317; 36-114; 36-682; 36-787; 36-789, and 36-781, definition of “Bioterrorism”. Now, tell me, did you read all these, and then did you notice, with your vast understanding of our constitution, they are in violation of at least 3 Articles, and in many cases several sections of our constitution? It matters to me and to the hundreds of others I speak to about this. THESE ARE CURRENT LAWS ON THE BOOKS TODAY!

Basically, these laws provide for forced treatment, quarantine, and detention. You can be charged for a class one misdemeanor for violating an order, not a law. These are proclamations made by a governor, mayor, or county BOS chairman. No public hearings, no votes by other members of the council or board. They and the governor make law, in violation of separation of powers. Once detained, you can be detained up to 10 days before the county health official is required to file a petition in court. The court then has 5 days to put it on calendar. There is no stated requirement for Habeus Corpus, so you have no representation or appearance in court, from the looks of it. When I made arrests, I had to have the detained filed on in 48 hours or be released. If filed on, the court was the next day. Here, you are illegally detained by proclamation, in custody 15 days and not in court during the hearing. Additionally, LE and the MILIATARY OF THE STATE, aka National guard, are mandated to enforce these “orders”. I’ll explain the constitution next post. And, ARS 26-303, took effect January 2023, limiting the governor’s authority to 30 days, up to 120 days with legislative intervention. This is what HCR2039 is asking the people to modify the constitution to say. Why? It is already a law, even though it is all unconstitutional.

Stephen Sivigliano
This is an inexcusable tactic of intimidation: *Obiden’s* tsunami of illegal immigrants has exploded into nuclear proportions. Not just that, but most of the illegals are young men from socialist Venezuela and other places, all of them just ripe for military service. What military? Good question. They could be used to force American citizens to SUBMIT to the will of this now-socialist government! Priests & nuns could be arrested, tortured, executed, but also faithfull Catholics, and, I presume, other conservative Christians as well. Of course, the Jews will be a primary target also. Can we survive until the next election, and if so, will it be another fraudulent election?
