Mickie Niland, Maricopa County Republican Committee Chair, reminds MCRC PCs to get to the Jan 8 Mandatory Meeting early so you have time to enjoy donuts with the Teenage Republicans (TARS) before credentials open at 7:30 a.m. The meeting is scheduled at the Dream City Church, 13613 N Cave Creek Road in Phoenix. She also sends thanks to the many volunteers who make the meeting possible. Special thanks to Chairman Dan Grimm, Credentials Chair Cathy Schwanke, Tally Chair Diane Ortiz-Parsons and Ballot Tabulation Chair George Teagardin. See MCRC Mandatory Mtg 2022 Call Letter

LD28 Chair Kathy Pestas riled up her precinct committeemen with a memo this week that her PCs say contains remarks regarding the MCRC Jan 8 Mandatory Meeting election use of paper ballots (she supports web voting, PCs said). They complained she “encourages the use of proxies, complains that the meeting will be boring, shills for completely ineffective mask wearing, recommends voting no on ALL bylaw amendments, and trashing ALL resolutions as a waste of time.” They further claim there have been no LD28 meetings for several months. See her memo at ld28-zoom-meeting -february-9-at-7pm

Volunteers Needed: Arizona Federation of Republican Women are asking for volunteers to help at their outdoor AzFRW Membership & Fundraising Table at the Jan 8 Maricopa County Mandatory Meeting at Dream City Church, 13613 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix AZ 85022. Shifts begin at 7:30am – they’ll ‘ll work with your schedule, so if you’re a PC you can still participate in the meeting. Contact: 3rd Vice President Robyn Cushman 602-989-2710.

College Republicans United have called for volunteers outside the MCRC meeting venue to distribute flyers for CRU and be goodwill ambassadors for the organization. Dress warmly. Food vendors will be on site. If you are in need of a carpool contact us asu.collegerepublicansunited@gmail.com

It’s good to see George Teagardin back in charge of the MCRC Mandatory ballot tabulations. When Teagardin was in charge of tabulations some years back, there was no doubt that he would NOT tolerate any shenanigans. Briefs recalls an incident, about a decade ago, when a high-powered LD13 PC insisted her husband’s unsigned proxy be accepted/processed in violation of the rules. Teagardin stuck to the rules and rejected the proxy. The p****d prima donna stomped off in a huff. – ft

College Republicans United is singing praises of MCRC PCs Joe Neglia and Tristan Manos for the support both men have given to CRU. Neglia has offered to be a faculty advisor when a new CRU chapter is formed at Mesa Community College. He is a parliamentarian “who has forced the party to obey their own rules and called out corruption that creeps into party politics.” Manos is well-known for researching bylaws details and catching underlying party shenanigans.

The AZRA-WPCC will meet at 6:30 pm., Mon., Jan 10 at 408 N. Sacaton Street, Suite II, Casa Grande, AZ Speakers – Ellsworth Presiding Judge Precinct 2 Casa Grande Justice Court and Jeff Weninger Candidate for Arizona Treasurer

Blake Masters, US Senate candidate, will be attending the Conservative Republican Club of Kingman luncheon in Kingman at 10:30 am., Jan 10. Contact: crck@reagan.com

State Rep Quang Nguyen has introduced HB 2043 civil liability legislation to protect Arizonans from an entity or individual that requires vaccines as a condition of employment. An employer could be held liable for damages if an employee is denied a religious exemption and suffers significant injury caused by the mandated vaccine. “This is one of the most important bills I’m introducing this coming session,” said Nguyen. “The reality is COVID-19 is going to be with us for a long time. Public and private health mandates are not a good solution and could instead cause harm in some cases. If businesses and employers are intent on mandating vaccinations as a condition of employment, they should be held accountable if their employees face serious harm or illness.” Some COVID-19 vaccines have already been granted liability protection from the federal government, limiting affected individuals in whom they can seek to hold accountable for an injury. Moreover, current law only provides for an affected individual to seek recourse via the workers’ compensation system. HB 2043 creates a separate pathway for an employee to seek recourse if they have been denied a religious exemption and later suffered a significant injury because of the mandated vaccine. Should an affected employee prevail in a court of law, they could be entitled to at least $500K in actual damages. They would also be able to seek punitive damages in cases where egregious or malicious conduct has occurred.

State Rep Walt Blackman has introduced HB 2033, legislation in the upcoming session aimed at helping prevent young people from falling into a cycle of debt and poverty for mistakes they made during childhood. Juvenile courts can charge fees to children and their families for legal representation, detention, probation, and costs related to court-ordered treatment. These fees range from $20 to hundreds of dollars each and can add up to thousands of dollars for just one case. “Thousands of children in Arizona interact with the juvenile system each year, and these onerous fees only serve to set them up for failure later in life,” said Blackman. “HB 2033 eliminates nonpunitive fees and costs for children in the juvenile justice system, while protecting punitive tools like fines and victim restitution. Additionally, it establishes a process whereby individuals who are currently in debt for these fees can petition the courts to vacate the debts and civil judgements. Doing this would go a long way to help young people succeed in turning their life around for the better.”

U.S. Senate Candidate Blake Masters will meet with the Republican Women of the Hills in Fountain Hills, at 3 pm., Jan 13. Contact: loriann.harnish@gmail.com

READERS SPEAK OUT
READER/WRITER OPINIONS ARE NOT NECESSARILY THOSE OF THE BRIEFS. Word Limit is 300. No more two and three part commentaries. EXCESS VERBIAGE IS SUBJECT TO EDITING. Briefs will post candidate announcements. – ft

TED FARMER, LD21 State Committeeman: Ballot Trafficking Whistleblower steps forward in Georgia… And yet Arizona will once again use unattended drop boxes in 2022. We must just say NO!

DICK HAMILTON: Kudos to Nancy Plencner for her well-thought out and well-written commentaries. One comment on her 01-05-2022 Briefs comments: A 2022 Election that provides a veto-proof Congress may be the only form of life-raft the election gives us. Here’s hoping!

JACK PODPLESKY, LD13 state committeeman: Dear Mr. Hamilton. Thank you for the laugh this morning. I laughed so hard I spit my coffee all over my monitor. The name is Jack, not Steve. I agree I also will not comment on your posts as I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Editor’s Note: The mix up in first names was Briefs, not Hamilton’s. My apologizes. – ft

LYLE TUTTLE, past Maricopa County Republican Committee chair regarding “Podplesky’s bitching” 12-27-21 Briefs Jack & Leslie, I am not responding to your questions. However, I am responding to your assertion that LD4 Chair Sandra Dowling has been connected in any way to the West Valley Arizona Republican Assembly meetings — she has not had ANYTHING to do with our meetings, HOWEVER, she HAS (Thank God) assumed a leadership position with those who would keep the West Valley Republican Office OPEN. As a precinct captain, I would think you might be better aware of that….and of Jill Norgaard’s repeated attempts to re-draw the maps to change the maps to favor the Dims more……but my guess is that you, like other misguided souls, didn’t take the time to do the hard work, ie, the digging out of the actual numbers and then doing the math – am I wrong? You list several other complaints:

  • MAL issue – Dowling is right – and Ward was wrong
  • Meeting location changes – what did YOU do to find a permanent location under the CCP Virus BS??
  • Carbon Copy – Frankly, I don’t get your point – you seem to say that as PC’s we should walk our neighborhood and hand out cards with our contact information but we are not allowed to have the contact information of fellow PC’s?? If we are expected to share with our communities, why not within our group??
  • You are upset because Dowling didn’t set a meeting time/place to fit your wife’s schedule?? Give me a break! The world does not revolve around you or your wife.

I urge you to get your facts straight prior to any bad-mouthing – especially someone who gives so much to the AZGOP – and has since many current activists were in diapers!! Editor’s Note: Tuttle is a long-top activist and past two-time LD chair. – ft

YALE WISHNICK, RPN founder: Every Republican should drop youtube. Every GOP Club member should drop youtube. Every conservative should drop youtube. The 80 million Americans that voted for President Trump should drop youtube. You want action, drop youtube.

CONSTANTIN “CQ” QUERARD, LD13 first vice chair: Jack Podplesky spending his days scouring the Internet for something to throw at me is to be expected. 01-03-2022 Briefs And after my decades of work for conservative causes, him coming up with the same two tired questions (did I want to eliminate the Electoral College (no) and did I get Soros money (no)?) and a discredited hit piece from several years ago is par for the course. I had considered a snarky George Bernard Shaw “…never wrestle with a pig” reference but instead would refer Briefs readers to the rest of a great blog post about taking the bait some people offer. It reads in part: Toxic people enjoy getting into big, dramatic, ick-splattering social catastrophes. Like the bad kid in your class growing up, it meets some of their needs – It proves that they matter. Attention is the goal here, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s good or bad attention. Just so someone’s noticing. For some people, big drama actually means intimacy. The fact that you care enough to enter their gross, complicated world on their terms is something they enjoy. They mistakenly believe this is how to get closer to someone else. “People who hurt the most, hurt the most.” People who are in pain enjoy causing other people pain, because it provides a distraction for them from their own miserable circumstances. Decide that you’re going to be the bigger person. Draw your boundaries. Speak calmly. Try your best. Focus on building into the lives of people who appreciate your efforts. Forgive. Focus on the winners in your life, not the whiners. Pick up the phone and talk to someone who brings you energy and life and move on. See dont-wrestle-with-a-pig-in-the-mud Really good reading for Briefs readers and everyone everywhere. And prayers up for Jack and Leslie!

DONALD J TRUMP, 45th POTUSA: Biden is working hard to try and deflect the incompetent job he is doing, and has done, on the horrible Afghanistan withdrawal (surrender), the Borders, COVID, Inflation, loss of Energy Independence, and much more. Everything he touches turns to failure. That’s what you get when you have a rigged Election.

SHELLEY KAIS, Pima County Chair: I believe when you divide the Independents to R or D, we are going to see that Pima County is starting to lean RED. We are no longer satisfied with identity politics from the Mayor’s office or mask and vaccine mandates from the Board of Supervisors. The representatives that we send to Phoenix will be representing larger portions of RED Pima County and will be working for us and the needs of Pima County. This is a new decade. We can change the direction; join me.

MATTHEW RIBARICH, Tucson: Would the GOP do this? You bet they would. Did you think the GOP actually cares about anything other than keeping the DC gravy train running as usual? A few do actually represent their voters….very few. See How-The-GOP-Helped-The-Democrats-Steal-The-Election

JEFF GREENSPAN: Questions for ROBERT CANTERBURY, LD22 PC, Candidate for Maricopa County BOS District 4. Robert, if you had been a BOS member in 2020, would you have voted to certify the 2020 county election results (yes/no)? If yes, what criteria would you have needed to see in order to vote No? If the same issues surfaced by the 2020 audit occurred in 2024, would you vote to certify the county election results in 2024? (yes/no) As BOS member, will you vote to cancel the contract with the existing e-voting vendor? Will you vote to disclose routers and logs if requested?

YALE WISHNICK, RPN founder: The GOP should have a major news conference in every state on January 6th, describing how the Democrat Marxist Party encouraged the “real” riots in our major cities. GOP must mobilize.

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY
Republican candidates may submit announcements, statements, opinions, events etc. Anything longer than Briefs 300 word limit is subjected to editing down. Briefs does not post candidate endorsements, nor do we participate in any candidate campaigns. – ft

TRISTAN MANOS, MCRC Member-At-Large candidate: Fellow Maricopa County Republican Precinct Committeemen (MCRC PCs)! Now’s your opportunity to vote on the following Proposed Resolution before you at this Saturday’s 2022 MCRC Mandatory Meeting, addressing the 2020 Election and Election Audit HERE. We here in Maricopa County are Ground Zero. Please be sure to see the linked video, also linked HERE. Video Backgrounder: As the first Chairman of the MCRC’s Election Integrity Committee (a committee established for the first time in MCRC history, an idea I pitched to the MCRC Chair at the time), I made a point of observing the presentation of the 2020 Election Canvass by the Maricopa County Elections Department to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. Shocked at what I saw, I isolated this video passage and pitched it to a popular figure on Twitter (more than once, so it took persistence and persuasion), where it rose to over 500,000+ (yes, over half a million) views. That’s before the person who tweeted it was banned from Twitter. I’ve still got the original copy. In the public domain, starting at 2:06:31, ending at 2:08:52 it’s at Maricopa County’s YouTube channel HERE (this link goes right to the beginning of the shocking isolated passage). I’m running to serve and represent you for a third consecutive term. Your vote for this Resolution is your voice. Your voice is the MCRC’s voice. I’m here for you. A vote for me really is a vote for you. Bio HERE. Backgrounder HERE. Official Call Letter HERE. See you this Saturday! Contact: tristanmanos3@gmail.com

STEVE GAYNOR, Gubernatorial candidate, has released a new advertisement highlighting his unique qualifications for the job. The Fixer, introduces voters to Gaynor’s track record of successfully fixing broken companies. Gaynor has reversed the fortunes of a number of failing businesses during his 40 years building companies in Arizona and across the southwest. During his business career, Gaynor has created hundreds of good-paying jobs. “Steve is the only candidate in the race with a proven track record of turning around businesses,” said Gaynor’s campaign manager Ed Morabito. “He’s also the only candidate in this race who has demonstrated the ability to fix Arizona’s problems and get this state back on track. He’s a successful, steadfast conservative winner, and we’re going to make sure Arizona Republicans are well aware of that fact.” In the ad, Gaynor says:“.As a businessman, I specialized in fixing broken companies – solving their problems and making them successful. As governor, I’ll work to solve Arizona’s problems. To learn more, go to gaynorforgovernor.com.”

JIM LAMON, US senate candidate: 2022 is here, and it’s the year conservatives take back America from career politicians and the Liberal Left. 2021 was full of bad decision-making from Joe Biden and Socialist leaders like Mark Kelly, who didn’t have anybody else’s interests in mind but their own. America should not have to suffer any longer from a horrible decision under the Left’s foolish agenda.
In 2021 we had:

  • Open borders that endangered families across America
  • Riots and lawlessness across liberal run cities
  • Pork spending by the Left spending to fund Socialist pet projects

In 2022 if I’m elected to the U.S. Senate we will:

  • Secure our borders and reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy
  • Restore law and order to the greatest nation on Earth
  • Put the power back in the people’s hands and get back to the America First Agenda.

2022 is going to be a great year with your support. I’m ready to Take Back the U.S. Senate and put America First again. https://jimlamon.com/

MARK BRNOVICH, US senate candidate: The Brnovich for U.S. Senate campaign released its fourth quarter fundraising report today, showing a raise of $800K. “Attorney General Mark Brnovich continues to show strong support from every county in Arizona.” said Joanna Duka, campaign spokeswoman. “Throughout the end of 2021, AG Brnovich was hard at work defending Arizonans’ constitutional rights against an overreaching federal government. Arizonans are taking notice and that’s reflected in his strong state-based support. Meanwhile, Senator Mark Kelly has continued proving that he is in-touch with Chuck Schumer and out-of-touch with Arizona. In 2022, Brnovich remains focused in fighting on behalf of Arizonans every day, pushing back on unconstitutional COVID-mandates and problematic school closures, protecting parental rights, and taking back the Senate in November.”

TOM HORNE, Supt of Public Instruction candidate: In Springfield, Missouri, a middle school forced teachers to locate themselves on an “oppression matrix,” based on the idea that straight, white, English-speaking, Christian males are members of the oppressor class and must atone for their privilege and “covert white supremacy.” A book by education professor Penny Pasque expands the list of enemies: “people who are able-bodied, white, Christian, middle and upper-middle class, heterosexual men and those who have assimilated to US culture”. So now anyone who has assimilated to US culture is guilty. As a recent article points out, Robespierre would not be more proud. The list of enemies expands, and in the end no one is safe. If elected Superintendent of Schools, getting critical race theory out of our schools will be my first priority. Contact – 602.885.4959 Horne@HorneSlaton.com

CONGRESSIONAL UPDATES
Anything longer than Briefs 300 word limit is subject to editing/shortening. – ft

CONGRESSMAN DAVID SCHWEIKERT: As you may know, the Biden Administration has proposed vaccine mandates for all businesses with 100 or more employees. I wanted to give you a quick update on where this mandate currently stands:

  • OSHA will not issue citations for businesses for noncompliance with any requirement before January 10.
  • OSHA will not issue citations for noncompliance with any business before February 9 as long as that employer is putting forth a reasonable and good faith effort to come into compliance.
  • The State of Arizona joined a coalition of eleven states that are legally challenging the mandate in the United States Eight Circuit Court of Appeals. Meaning the CMS mandate not in effect in AZ as it is in other states

Supreme Court is hearing arguments this month on the business mandate and the CMS mandate.
